File this under “rumors,” but if we don’t see the new Galaxy S III unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (and we won’t), we may get a slightly improved version of the existing Galaxy S II. Apparently, a certainGalaxy S 2+ showed up in An3DBenchXL’s benchmark database, with WVGA display and a processor clocking at 1.5GHz. Now we know that the original Galaxy S II rocks a 1.2GHz Exynos CPU, but there are some U.S. models with a more powerful 1.5GHz processor (T-Mobile’s version) and even a bigger screen. Are we going to see that at the MWC or what?
It’s hard to tell at the moment, however we know the Korean giant has released few “Plus” devices in the past, including the Galaxy S Plusand Galaxy Ace Plus. Whether they’ll take the same turn with the Galaxy S II is hard to tell. Personally, I want a smartphone with a 720p screen like the LG Optimus LTE, HTC Rezound or Galaxy Nexus have, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who’ll keep waiting for the real deal. Or grab the Galaxy Nexus instead.
